Job Overview
We are seeking a friendly, organized, and customer-focused Receptionist to join our Durable Medical Equipment (DME) team. As the first point of contact for patients, referral sources, and visitors, the Receptionist plays a vital role in creating a positive customer experience while supporting the daily operations of the office. The ideal candidate is professional, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Greet patients, caregivers, and visitors in a courteous and professional manner.
- Answer and direct incoming telephone calls promptly and accurately.
- Schedule appointments and coordinate patient visits as needed.
- Verify patient demographic and insurance information.
- Collect required documentation, including physician orders, insurance cards, and identification.
- Maintain accurate patient records and scan or file documentation in accordance with company policies.
- Assist with intake paperwork and obtain required signatures.
- Process incoming and outgoing mail, faxes, and emails.
- Coordinate communication between patients, physicians, referral sources, and internal departments.
- Monitor and maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming reception area.
- Assist with inventory of office supplies and place orders as needed.
- Support administrative staff with data entry, filing, and other clerical duties.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA and company policies.
- Perform other administrative duties as assigned.
QualificationsRequired
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- One or more years of receptionist, front desk, customer service, or administrative experience.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel) and standard office equipment.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Professional appearance and positive attitude.
Preferred
- Experience in a healthcare, medical office, or Durable Medical Equipment (DME) setting.
- Familiarity with medical terminology and insurance verification.
- Experience with electronic medical records (EMR) or healthcare management software.
