    This Activities Center Coordinator plans, organizes, and supervises the day-to-day operations of the Orono Activities Center and its members. The Coordinator is responsible for elevating community engagement and the member experience by providing a safe, clean, and welcoming environment. A primary focus of this role is building strong community partnerships and providing dedicated oversight for high-impact daily events, including evenings and weekends, while advancing the District's mission through Scholarship, Character, and Connectedness.
    Position Overview & Responsibilities
    1. Membership & Experience Elevation
    • Plan, organize, and supervise membership-related activities to ensure a high-quality experience.
    • Monitor the experiences of paid members and work with the administration to adapt to interests by providing innovative offerings that compliment established amenities.
    • Manage the membership platform and oversee insurance reimbursements.
    • Promote memberships to meet annual budget projections through specials, innovative services, and incentives.
    • Implement personal training programs to increase revenue and enhance member options.
    • Provide regular reporting, tracking, and maintenance of member guidelines.
    2. Staff Supervision & Customer Excellence
    • Recruit, hire, onboard, and train staff to meet premium customer service standards.
    • Develop leadership capacity in staff through internships, direct training, and ongoing mentorship.
    • Directly supervise full and part-time staff, including scheduling for all operating hours and payroll approval.
    • Maintain a welcoming, clean, and safe environment for all visitors.
    • Respond to member concerns aligning with excellent customer service expectations.
    • Maintain a consistent onsite presence to monitor programs and ensure high member engagement.
    3. Community Connection & Partnership Development
    • Build Strong Partnerships: Proactively develop and maintain relationships with community residents, local businesses, school staff, and surrounding communities.
    • Event Leadership: Responsible for overseeing, planning, and executing evening and weekend events, tournaments, and special projects.
    • Connectedness: Serve as a key liaison to elevate the community experience and foster a sense of belonging within the facility.
    • District Mission: Advance goals through careful attention to Scholarship, Character, and Connectedness.
    4. Operations & Safety
    • Safety Protocols: Maintain a safe environment and collaborate with District leadership to ensure all safety protocols are strictly followed.
    • Financial Oversight: Follow the business procedures manual for all financial transactions.
    • Compliance: Ensure compliance with building policies from members, school staff, and the community.
    • Contractor Management: Oversee independent contractors and services as designated.
    5. Athletics Collaboration
    • Athletics Department Collaboration: Work in close partnership with the High School Athletics Department regarding facility scheduling and shared usage.
    • Student Strength and Conditioning: Assist in coordinating the delivery of strength training and conditioning programming for high school student-athletes.
    SECTION III: KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
    • Evidence of the ability to work in a supportive relationship with teachers, district staff, and the public.
    • Ability to manage safety protocols in a manner that does not inhibit the customer experience.
    • Excellent customer relations and problem-solving skills.
    • Experience conducting employee training, and monitoring and evaluating employee performance.
    • Ability to work in a fun, fast-paced environment and self-manage time and workload.
    • Knowledge of data privacy and the ability to maintain confidentiality.
    • Positive attitude required at all times.
    SECTION IV: EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
    • Education: Bachelor's degree in Recreation, Education, Fitness, or related field preferred.
    • Experience: Knowledge of fitness equipment and gym management preferred.
    • Event Management: Experience with event and/or tournament management preferred.

    Building/Site:
    Orono Schools Activities Center

    Schedule: 10:00 AM – 6:00 PM (Requires flexibility for evening and weekend event support)

    Salary: Approximately $70,000-75,000
    Insurance: $300/Month Contribution
    Other Benefits:
    • 2.5% Incentive
    • Annual TSA Match: $2,000
    RETIREMENT/PENSION: Position covered by Minnesota Public Employees Retirement Association (PERA)

    Bargaining Group and Level:
    Unaffiliated / Individual Contract
