Key Responsibilities
Estimating & Pre-Construction
- Prepare detailed estimates for commercial and industrial mechanical projects, including HVAC, refrigeration, sheet metal, controls, and hydronic systems
- Review drawings, specifications, and bid documents to perform accurate quantity takeoffs and cost analyses
- Size and select equipment, ductwork, and piping for inclusion in project estimates
- Develop alternates, value-engineering options, and pricing strategies
- Work directly with customers, general contractors, and engineers to clarify scope, assumptions, and execution approach
- Conduct facility walkthroughs and site assessments to confirm existing conditions
- Participate in customer meetings, jobsite coordination meetings, and pre-construction discussions
- Serve as a technical and commercial point of contact during pre-construction and early execution phases
- Support awarded projects through all phases, including:
- Submittal preparation, review, and coordination
- Purchase order creation, vendor negotiation, and material tracking
- Scheduling and manpower coordination with project management leadership
- Change order and bulletin estimating, pricing, and tracking
- Permit support and compliance with applicable codes and regulations
- Coordination with subcontractors (cranes, rigging, specialty trades)
- Assist with project closeout documentation, including O&M manuals and final cost reconciliation
- Help ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and aligned with quality standards
- 10 years of experience in commercial or industrial HVAC estimating and/or mechanical construction project management
- Strong working knowledge of HVAC, refrigeration, sheet metal, controls, and hydronic systems
- Proven ability to read and interpret blueprints, plans, and specifications
- Proficiency with estimating software and Microsoft Office
- Strong communication skills with the ability to interact confidently with customers and project stakeholders
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable managing multiple bids and projects simultaneously
