Tax Manager

Pay: $95,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year

Location: South Fargo, ND. This is a fully on-site leadership opportunity for someone who enjoys working closely with their team and clients. Relocation assistance is not available.

Note: Candidates must have 4 years of progressive payroll experience, including payroll management or team leadership, along with strong multistate or multijurisdiction payroll knowledge.

Job Description

• Lead end to end payroll operations and ensure accurate, timely, and compliant payroll delivery.
• Manage, mentor, and develop payroll team members while setting clear performance and service standards.
• Oversee payroll processing across multiple entities, states, and regulatory jurisdictions.
• Review payroll runs, validate data, and resolve complex payroll issues involving taxes, garnishments, deductions, and adjustments.
• Maintain strong payroll controls, documentation, reporting, and system administration.
• Partner directly with clients and internal teams to provide knowledgeable payroll guidance and resolve issues.
• Identify opportunities to streamline workflows, strengthen controls, and improve payroll technology and processes.
• Stay current on payroll laws, tax requirements, and regulatory changes affecting payroll operations.

Qualifications

• 4 years of progressive payroll experience.
• Payroll management, supervisory, or team leadership experience.
• Strong end to end payroll administration and payroll operations knowledge.
• Experience with multistate or multijurisdiction payroll, payroll taxes, compliance, and complex deductions.
• Experience with payroll systems and related accounting or HR technology.
• Strong Excel, analytical, organizational, communication, and problem solving skills.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field.
• CPP, CPA, or another relevant professional certification preferred.
