Note:

This role requires 6 years of progressive tax experience in public accounting or tax advisory, including 2 years of supervisory or people-management experience. Candidates should have strong experience with business and individual tax compliance, tax planning, entity structuring, pass-through taxation, client advisory, and managing small business or mid-market client portfolios.

Job Description

  • Own the day-to-day delivery of tax compliance and advisory services across a portfolio of small business and mid-market clients.
  • Review business and individual tax returns, estimates, filings, and related deliverables while maintaining a high standard of accuracy and quality.
  • Lead proactive tax planning conversations and identify opportunities involving entity structure, pass-through taxation, transactions, and business growth.
  • Build trusted relationships with clients and serve as a senior point of contact for ongoing tax questions, planning, and strategic guidance.
  • Lead, coach, and develop tax associates and senior associates through regular feedback, technical guidance, performance expectations, and career development.
  • Establish effective review processes, quality standards, workflows, and accountability across the tax practice.
  • Manage deadlines, engagement workflow, workload distribution, and competing priorities across multiple concurrent client engagements.
  • Monitor tax law and IRS guidance changes and translate relevant developments into actionable guidance for clients and the team.
  • Partner with senior leadership on client expansion, onboarding, service opportunities, and strategic account development.
  • Represent the tax practice in client meetings, quarterly reviews, planning sessions, and other director-level conversations.
  • Help build scalable systems, processes, templates, and technology-enabled workflows as the tax practice continues to grow.
  • Embrace modern tax technology and AI-enabled tools to improve research, efficiency, workflow, and client service.


Qualifications

  • 6 years of progressive tax experience in public accounting or tax advisory.
  • 2 years of supervisory, management, or people-leadership experience.
  • Strong business and individual tax compliance and tax planning expertise.
  • Experience with entity structuring, pass-through taxation, and transactional tax advisory.
  • Proven ability to independently manage a client portfolio and serve as a primary client contact.
  • Experience serving small business and mid-market clients, ideally those with $1M to $100M in revenue.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to explain complex tax concepts clearly to business owners.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop junior professionals and maintain high standards for quality and deadlines.
  • Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment with evolving processes and priorities.
  • Advanced tax degree such as an MST or JD/LLM is preferred but not required.
