About Us
Orange County Law Center is an expanding California law firm representing individuals, businesses, landlords, homeowners, contractors, and families throughout California. As our caseload continues to grow through referrals, marketing, and client demand, we are seeking experienced California attorneys to join our network as Independent Contract Attorneys (1099).
This position is ideal for attorneys who maintain their own practice, recently opened a practice, are transitioning from another firm, or simply want the flexibility to accept additional cases without the expense of generating their own clients.
Position Summary
We are looking for motivated California attorneys in good standing with the State Bar who are interested in handling litigation and transactional matters on a contract basis.
Attorneys choose which assignments they accept based on their availability, preferred practice areas, and geographic location.
Most work can be completed remotely, although certain assignments may require appearances at court hearings, mediations, depositions, arbitrations, trials, inspections, or client meetings.
Assignments may be one-time projects or ongoing litigation matters.

Responsibilities
- Draft pleadings, motions, oppositions, replies, and discovery
- Conduct legal research and prepare legal memoranda
- Manage assigned cases from intake through resolution
- Attend hearings, mediations, arbitrations, depositions, and trials
- Negotiate settlements when appropriate
- Communicate professionally with clients, courts, opposing counsel, and experts
- Maintain organized case files and comply with all deadlines
- Deliver high-quality legal representation while exercising independent professional judgment
Compensation
- Independent Contractor (1099)
- Flexible workload
- Accept or decline assignments
- Compensation varies based on experience, complexity of the matter, and scope of services
- Fee-sharing arrangements available where permitted under California Rules of Professional Conduct
- Administrative and case management support provided
- Client acquisition, intake, scheduling, and marketing handled by the firm
- Compensation structure will be discussed before each assignment
Qualifications
- Active California Bar License in good standing
- 2 years of legal experience preferred (newer attorneys with strong litigation experience may also be considered)
- Excellent legal writing and research skills
- Courtroom experience preferred
- Strong organizational and case management abilities
- Ability to work independently
- Professional communication skills
- Reliable and deadline-oriented

Compensation is negotiable and depends upon attorney experience, case complexity, practice area, workload accepted, and fee arrangements.
