What are the responsibilities and job description for the Live Fire Cadre position at Orange County Fire Authority?
This Live Fire Cadre recruitment is an Orange County Fire Authority (OCFA) internal recruitment. ONLY applications from current, qualified OCFA Fire Captains, Fire Apparatus Engineers, and non-probationary Firefighters will be accepted.
The Live Fire Cadre (LFC) training program was formally adopted January 1, 2019. The LFC is responsible for all live fire training in academy training/graduations, battalion drills, and any event where live fire is introduced.
The additional instructors will be required to attend the OCFA Live Fire Training instructor course. This course includes a classroom orientation and expectations of the program and manipulative training in the Phase 1 burn container. The instructor training will be provided at RFOTC on the drill grounds.
Instructors in the program are expected to become a certified Fire Control 3 Instructor with the State Fire Marshal with the assistance of the LFC Program Manager and the Ops Safety & Training Division.
Must be a current OCFA Fire Captain, Fire Apparatus Engineer, or non-probationary Firefighter.
HIGHLY DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS
Those who meet the following general qualifications will be considered:
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively
- Ability to function as a member of a team in a positive and constructive manner
- Instructor 1 and 2
- Fire Control 3
- S404 or L954 Safety Officer
- I-300
