Senior AI Software Engineer (Python / Agentic AI)
W2 ONLY – No C2C, No 1099
Hybrid: Detroit, MI or Charlotte, NC (3 days onsite)
Optomi, in partnership with a leading financial services organization, is seeking a Senior AI Software Engineer to help build the next generation of AI-powered developer platforms and autonomous agent solutions.
This engineer will contribute to a high-visibility initiative focused on agentic AI, knowledge retrieval systems, and secure autonomous workflows. You'll work alongside engineers, data scientists, and AI practitioners to design and deploy production-grade AI solutions that enhance developer productivity and business operations.
What You'll Be Doing
- Build and enhance AI-powered applications using Python
- Design and implement autonomous agent workflows and tool-calling capabilities
- Develop knowledge retrieval and RAG-based systems that power intelligent decision making
- Integrate and optimize LLMs including Claude, Gemini, OpenAI, and related models
- Design secure, scalable APIs and backend services supporting AI platforms
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver production-ready AI solutions
- Implement monitoring, guardrails, evaluation frameworks, and operational controls for AI systems
What We're Looking For
- Strong Python development experience building scalable backend applications
- Experience with LLMs, Generative AI, and AI-powered applications
- Hands-on experience with Agentic AI, autonomous agents, tool calling, or agent orchestration
- Experience building RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation) solutions
- Understanding of vector databases, embeddings, and enterprise knowledge retrieval
- Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS
- Strong API development experience
- Familiarity with JavaScript and/or TypeScript
Nice to Have
- Experience with LangGraph, CrewAI, AutoGen, or similar agent frameworks
- Experience deploying AI systems into production environments
- MLOps, model evaluation, and AI monitoring experience
- Security-focused development experience
