What are the responsibilities and job description for the Power Transmission Analyst position at Optimus?
A key Optimus client is looking to hire a Transmission Analyst to provide analysis on market pricing across all ISO/RTOs.
Key activities include:
- Perform transmission market simulations using power flow programs to identify transmission system capabilities and limitations
- Support hedging and trading activities through CRRs/FTRs/TCCs to help optimize the portfolio
- Provide transmission expertise and analytical support for the commercial development and strategic origination activities
- Produce short-term to mid-term market reports and forecasts
- Support other analytical and managerial efforts as needed within and beyond Commercial Analytics
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering with power systems as focus, mathematics, applied statistics, computer science or data science required; Advanced degree in technical fields is highly desirable
- Electricity market structures, dynamics, and rules; FTR, CRR and TCC structures Power plant operations
- Load flow and nodal price modeling software platforms (such as PSLF, PSSE, PROMOD, UPLAN, Dayzer, etc.) and associated data structures
- Experience with transmission modeling; analytical applications such as Excel, SQL, Visual Basic, Python, R, SAS, C , Java/.NET, and other programming languages
- Understanding of ISO market structure and energy commodities.
