SUMMARY

Under the supervision of the Boutique Supervisor, the Boutique Lead Associate is responsible for providing quality support to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. This role provides day-to-day guidance, task direction, and support to Boutique Associates while overseeing and performing a variety of retail and operational functions, including warehouse activities, production support, cash register operations, cash-handling procedures, and the processing of donated goods. The Boutique Lead Associate is also expected to support both front-end and back-end team members and help ensure the efficient operation of all boutique activities.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Reinforce and positively engage in Opportunity Village’s organizational culture supporting the choice and creativity of team members with and without services.
  2. Utilize appropriate methods for working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
  3. Provide support, training, and coaching to Boutique Associates on cash-handling procedures, customer service standards, donation processing, pricing, stocking, merchandising, cleaning expectations, and safety procedures while performing daily cash register transactions and delivering excellent customer service.
  4. Assign, monitor, and follow up on daily work assignments for Boutique Associates, including register coverage, donation processing, stocking, recovery, cleaning, and customer carry-outs.
  5. Opening and closing responsibilities include balancing cash drawers, recording and logging register totals, preparing bank deposits, recovering the store, preparing warehouse and processing areas, and completing daily reports such as production and end-of-shift reports.
  6. Complete and ensure the accuracy of required paperwork such as daily cash receipts, sales and carryout slips, deposit slips, ID Notes, Incident Reports, and JDT timesheets.
  7. Greet and assist customers in a professional, courteous, and service-oriented manner.
  8. Monitor customer access to and cleanliness of register area and fitting rooms.
  9. Serve as the first point of contact for Boutique Associate questions, customer service concerns, workflow issues, and safety concerns, escalating matters to the Boutique Supervisor as appropriate.
  10. Provide courteous assistance to customers with donation drop-offs and merchandise carry-outs.
  11. Help maintain cleanliness and organization throughout the store, including the sales floor, restrooms, breakroom, sorting area, register area, fitting rooms, and entryway by performing routine cleaning, sanitizing, waste removal, and restroom supply replenishment.
  12. Lead daily and weekly team huddles specific to the assigned area.
  13. Assist the Boutique Supervisor with coaching, documenting performance observations, and providing input for performance reviews; formal corrective action remains the responsibility of management.
  14. Model and help reinforce established policies and procedures.
  15. Participate in Safety Committee activities and procedures.
  16. Report suspected Abuse, Neglect, Exploitation, Isolation, and Abandonment (ANEIA) immediately as  mandated by state law.
  17. May be assigned other duties as needed.

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This role does not have direct supervisory responsibility but provides mentorship, coaching, and guidance to team members.

 

Qualifications:

SKILLS REQUIRED

  • Ability to communicate effectively with individuals, team members, and supervisors (verbal and written).

  • Proficient with technology, including computers and other operating systems such as, but not limited to, Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to lead work activities and be comfortable with public speaking for things such as facilitating huddles, supporting coaching conversations, providing instruction, and redirecting behaviors.

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Required: High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Required: One (1) year of verifiable work experience in a related field in a lead or key holder role, such as retail sales and cash handling experience.
  • Required: Current CPR and First Aid Certification within 30 days of employment
  • Required: Current CPI certification within 30 days of employment
  • Preferred: Experience working with individuals with disabilities.

  • Ability to lift and move boxes up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to stand for up to 90% of the workday.

  • Ability to work outdoors in extreme weather conditions, i.e., extreme heat or cold. 
  • Manual dexterity to operate office equipment and examine documents, records and files.
