Job Summary
OPP excavation and construction is looking to hire experienced operators to our crew. We are a solid family like owner operated business; we are founded on respect. We work on many projects throughout the year, with our main focuses being, Concrete, Paving, Septic, Water & Sewer, Retaining walls, Site Work, and Storm Drainage.
Duties
- Operate heavy equipment such as bulldozers, loaders, backhoes, excavators, and other construction machinery to perform earthmoving, grading, lifting, and material handling tasks.
- Assist with cleaning and maintenance on the equipment
- Assist with concrete mixing operations using concrete mixers and coordinate with crew members for pouring and finishing concrete structures.
- Conduct routine inspections of equipment like Caterpillar machinery
- Follow safety protocols diligently while operating equipment on construction sites with experience in site-specific procedures.
- Collaborate with project managers and team members to plan daily tasks, prioritize work orders, and troubleshoot mechanical issues promptly.
- Maintain detailed logs of equipment usage, maintenance schedules, and operational reports to ensure compliance with safety regulations.
Skills
- Proven construction site experience with familiarity in operating a variety of heavy machinery such as dozers, loaders, backhoes, excavators, cranes, and water trucks.
- Strong mechanical knowledge to troubleshoot minor issues and perform basic maintenance on equipment like Caterpillar machines
- Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) class A or B with experience
- Knowledge of construction safety standards and best practices for operating heavy equipment in active work zones.
- Ability to read technical manuals and operate specialized machinery such as concrete mixers or water tanks effectively.
- Excellent communication skills for coordinating tasks with team members and ensuring smooth workflow on-site.
