About the Role
The Community Specialist plays a vital role in the smooth operation of virtual student clubs and events by providing support, assisting with attendance, and managing event recordings. This role requires attention to detail, clear communication, and the ability to work independently.
Your Immediate Impact
The Community Specialist will assist across club and event operations.
Event Operations & Support
- - Open and initiate club sessions and educational events
- - Provide real-time technical and operational support during live programming
Data Management & Documentation
- - Create accurate participant rosters for all events and upload to Class for Zoom platform
- - Verify and maintain attendance records with precision
- - Organize and maintain current planning documents and resource materials
- - Upload event recordings and update documentation within 48-hour turnaround requirement
Program Continuity
- - Identify and coordinate substitute teacher support when regular instructors are unavailable
- - Maintain substitute teacher database and availability schedules
- - Facilitate smooth transitions when program changes occur
Communication & Collaboration
- - Respond to internal requests and inquiries within 24-hour timeframe
- - Collaborate effectively with teachers, team members, and program participants
- - Maintain clear communication channels between all stakeholders
- - Document and communicate any issues or improvements to program leadership
Success Metrics:
Availability: Consistently available to support club and event openings
Accuracy: 100% accuracy in attendance verification and roster creation/upload
Timeliness: All recordings uploaded and documents updated within 48 hours
Responsiveness: All requests acknowledged and addressed within 24 hours
Program Quality: Events run on schedule with minimal technical disruptions
Who You Are:
Experience with virtual meeting platforms and Google Workspace, particularly Google Sheets.
Strong organizational skills for digital document management
Clear communication skills with ability to work independently as well as interact with teachers and team members.

Team & Autonomy:
The Student Event Lead will be your direct manager. You will have tasks that will benefit the entire Community Team. You will work closely with Community Teachers. There will be many times when you will need to be on camera at a specific time, but many of your responsibilities will be asynchronous and can be completed throughout the day.
