Job Overview
Open Arms Outpatient Counseling Services is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Crisis Qualified Mental Health Professional (QMHP-A) to provide community-based mental health services to individuals experiencing behavioral health challenges.
In this role, you will support clients in achieving stability, independence, and improved quality of life through skill-building, crisis intervention, and clinical support in home and community settings.

Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct mental health support and case management services in community-based settings
- Assist individuals in developing independent living skills using approved curriculum
- Monitor mental health symptoms, medication compliance, and overall well-being
- Develop and implement individualized crisis plans
- Maintain consistent communication with supervisors and treatment team members
- Coordinate care with external providers and community agencies
- Transport clients to appointments as needed to support treatment goals
- Complete accurate and timely clinical documentation (progress notes, ISPs, discharge summaries, etc.)
- Participate in supervision, team meetings, and ongoing trainings
- Respond to crisis situations, including after-hours support as assigned
- Promote positive engagement and program participation to support client success
Work Environment
- Community-based services (homes, schools, and community settings)
- May involve working in high-need or underserved environments
- Flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays
Requirements
- Must meet QMHP-A qualifications (per Virginia standards)
- Valid driver’s license, reliable vehicle, and current auto insurance
- Ability to transport clients when necessary
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
- Must pass:
- Criminal background check
- Fingerprinting
- Central Registry check
Education & Experience (QMHP-A Eligibility)
Must meet ONE of the following:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Services or related field 1 year experience
- Bachelor’s degree (unrelated) 15 human services credits 3 years experience
- Master’s degree in Psychology or related field
- Licensed mental health professional (or RN with experience)
- CPR certification
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in community mental health, crisis services, or case management
- Strong clinical documentation skills
- Experience working with high-risk populations
