The Certified Medication Technician (CMT) safely administers medications and treatments under the supervision of a licensed nurse while providing compassionate, resident-centered care. This role is essential in promoting resident safety, comfort, and quality of life through accurate medication administration and close communication with the nursing team.
Responsibilities
- Administer medications and treatments in accordance with physician orders and Missouri regulations
- Verify resident identity prior to medication administration
- Accurately document medications, treatments, dosages, and administration times
- Observe residents for medication effectiveness and report changes in condition to the licensed nurse
- Monitor residents for adverse medication reactions
- Maintain accurate medication records and documentation
- Follow infection prevention and infection control procedures
- Assist residents with care needs as appropriate within the scope of certification
- Maintain medication cart organization and security
- Communicate effectively with residents, families, nurses, and healthcare team members
- Follow facility policies and all state and federal regulations
- Perform other duties as assigned by the nursing supervisor
- Current Missouri Certified Medication Technician (CMT) certification required
- Active CNA certification, if required by Missouri regulations
- Previous experience in skilled nursing, long-term care, rehabilitation, assisted living, or healthcare preferred
- Strong attention to detail and medication safety
