Salary: $155,000 to $175,000
Am Law Firm Business Development Manager Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree required; focus in writing, research/analysis, strategic planning, marketing, or business development preferred
- 7 years of experience in business development, marketing, or client service, ideally within legal or professional services
- Proven experience supporting corporate practices, including exposure to capital markets, public companies, funds, or real estate
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills; ability to produce high-quality proposals, RFP responses, and strategic content
- Strong executive presence with the ability to collaborate effectively with attorneys and partners
- Demonstrated project management, problem-solving, and prioritization skills in a fast-paced environment
- Experience with CRM systems, marketing automation tools, and data-driven decision-making
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Teams, Excel)
- High level of professionalism, discretion, and adaptability
- Prior people management experience preferred (direct oversight of team members)
- Flexibility to work beyond standard business hours as needed
Am Law Firm Business Development Manager Duties
- Lead end-to-end proposal and RFP development, including strategic messaging, drafting, and submission, while mentoring team members on best practices
- Partner with practice leadership and operations stakeholders to execute priority business development initiatives
- Support lateral recruiting and integration, collaborating with internal teams to ensure successful onboarding and practice assimilation
- Manage legal directory submissions, rankings, and awards, including research, drafting, and submission processes
- Drive practice-level strategic plans, ensuring execution of key BD initiatives and growth priorities
- Align business development strategies with broader industry and client team objectives
- Oversee development of marketing materials, events, and sponsorships, including ROI tracking and performance analysis
- Utilize CRM and analytics tools to track client engagement, identify growth opportunities, and inform strategy
- Manage BD budgets, including expense approvals and recommendations on strategic investments
- Conduct market and competitive analysis, monitoring industry trends, client activity, and news to proactively identify opportunities
- Lead, coach, and develop BD team members (approximately 2 direct reports)
