Title: Estimating Manager
Location: Westmont, IL
Salary: $115,000.00 - $150,000.00
Job Summary:
Reporting to the VP of Sales, the Estimating Manager is responsible for overseeing the estimating department and leading the development of accurate and competitive cost estimates for prestress and precast concrete projects. This role requires strong leadership, deep industry knowledge, and the ability to collaborate across departments to ensure successful project bids and proposals.
Key Responsibilities & Duties:
• Lead and mentor a team of estimators, fostering a culture of accuracy, accountability, and continuous improvement.
• Develop and implement standardized estimating procedures and tools.
• Analyze architectural and structural drawings, specifications, and other documentation to prepare detailed cost estimates.
• Collaborate with engineering, project management, sales, and the preconstruction teams to ensure alignment and accuracy of the scope of bid.
• Collaborate with external partners such as clients, general contractors, architects, and suppliers to clarify project requirements, scope, and pricing.
• Manage bid schedules and ensure timely and complete proposal submissions.
• Attend and be an active participant regarding scope and pre-bid meetings as well as site visits, gathering and reviewing project specific information.
• Maintain and update cost databases, unit pricing, and historical data.
• Provide value-added engineering options and alternative solutions to enhance project competitiveness.
• Communicate estimate assumptions, risks, and opportunities clearly to leadership and project teams.
• Ensure all stakeholders are informed of changes in scope, pricing, or timelines throughout the estimating process.
• Ensure all bid opportunity files are created and maintained.

Education & Preferred Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s Degree in construction management, civil engineering or related preferred.
• Preferred 5-10 years of experience within the Prestress & Precast industry.
• Previous team supervision and management experience required.
• A comprehensive knowledge of estimating techniques, including the estimation of hours for different categories of projects.
• Proficiency in estimating software, such as 3D modeling software, Drafting, Tekla, Revit, AutoCAD, Autodesk, and BIM.
• Strong knowledge of construction drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
• Advanced Excel skills and proficiency in Bluebeam and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Strong quantitative and analytical skills to assess project costs and risks.
• Ability to interpret complex technical documents and translate them into accurate estimates.
• Strategic mindset with the ability to identify cost-saving opportunities and value engineering options.
• Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to manage multiple estimates and deadlines simultaneously.
• Strong organizational skills to maintain documentation and version control.
• Be a change manager to improve processes and build a strong internal team.
