What are the responsibilities and job description for the Family Practice Physician position at OneWorld Community Health Centers?
Job Duties The Family Practice Physician works as part of the medical provider team, performing a variety of direct primary care services to patients. The Family Practice Physician also provides general supervision to Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants as appropriate. In addition, unless specifically exempted by the Chief Medical Officer, the Family Practice Physician shall be qualified to serve on the active medical staff of a local hospital, providing inpatient care services and/or rounding on newborns.
- Provides primary medical care by caring for all patients in accordance with the Physician's medical specialty.
- Obtains complete medical history, reviews medications, and performs complete physical examinations.
- Provides health education to patients and their families as appropriate. Stresses the importance of preventive health care measures.
- Orders routine and diagnostic lab and x-ray studies according to approved protocols.
- Diagnoses both acute and chronic illnesses on the basis of clinical findings, laboratory and x-ray reports, and/or the results of other diagnostic procedures according to approved protocols.
- Implements treatment and prescribes medications as needed according to therapeutic goals. Explains medications and treatment plans to patients and their families.
- Formulates, initiates, and monitors management plans for assigned patients using approved protocols.
