Overview:
The IDD Program Supervisor plays a vital role in supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) by overseeing and enhancing program services. This position ensures compliance with state regulations while promoting a person-centered approach to care. The Supervisor manages daily program operations and provides direct supervision to support staff, advocating for participants’ needs and positive outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

Program Coordination:

  • Oversee the delivery of all services authorized by Regional Centers, including Supported Living Services (SLS), Independent Living Services (ILS), Respite, Community Family Support (CFS), day programs, and other related services, ensuring each participant’s needs are fully met with quality, dignity, and compassion.
  • Monitor strict adherence to individualized care plans, Home and Community-Based Services (HCBS) settings requirements, and California’s Title 17 and Title 22 regulations to maintain compliance and promote best practices.
  • Collaborate proactively with Regional Centers, families, healthcare providers, and other stakeholders to coordinate seamless and effective service delivery.
  • Conduct comprehensive assessments to identify participant strengths, needs, and preferences, and develop individualized service plans that reflect person-centered goals and outcomes.
  • Actively advocate for participants to ensure timely access to appropriate resources, supports, and community-based opportunities.
  • Manage a caseload with a minimum of 800 billable weekly hours, balancing participant needs with staff capacity and program requirements.
  • Support participants in attaining their goals as outlined in their Individualized Service Plan (ISP), including conducting regular home visits to monitor progress and make necessary adjustments.

Compliance and Documentation:

  • Maintain thorough, accurate, and up-to-date documentation, including progress notes, incident reports, service logs, and program evaluations, to support transparency and accountability.
  • Ensure ongoing compliance with all applicable California state regulations, including Title 17 and Title 22, and prepare documentation for audits and reviews.
  • Identify and promptly address any compliance gaps or risks to safeguard participant welfare and program integrity.

Staff Training and Support:

  • Deliver comprehensive training and orientation to Direct Support Staff and Caregivers on best practices, agency policies, positive behavior supports, and individualized care protocols.
  • Provide consistent supervision, coaching, and performance feedback to staff to foster professional growth and maintain high-quality, person-centered care.
  • Manage staff scheduling, workload distribution, and coverage to ensure consistent service delivery.
  • Facilitate team meetings and communication channels to promote collaboration, problem-solving, and continuous improvement.
  • Support staff retention through mentorship, conflict resolution, and recognition of achievements.

Community Engagement:

  • Facilitate connections between participants and community resources, recreational activities, vocational opportunities, and social groups to encourage integration and enhance quality of life.
  • Plan, organize, and support social, educational, and skill-building activities aligned with participants’ interests and developmental goals.
  • Represent the program by actively participating in monthly team meetings, ISP meetings, Annual Review Updates, and other relevant forums, ensuring clear communication and shared decision-making.

Quality Assurance:

  • Regularly monitor and evaluate program effectiveness through data analysis, participant feedback, and staff input to identify areas for improvement.
  • Develop and implement corrective action plans as necessary to address service gaps, enhance care quality, and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Participate in internal and external audits, quality reviews, and accreditation processes to uphold the highest standards of service excellence.

Communication:

  • Maintain clear, respectful, and timely communication with participants, families, staff, Regional Centers, and other service providers.
  • Prepare and present reports, updates, and recommendations to management and stakeholders as needed.

Crisis Management:

  • Respond promptly and effectively to emergencies, incidents, or participant crises following agency protocols and regulatory guidelines.
  • Coordinate with healthcare professionals, emergency services, and families to ensure participant safety and well-being.

Professional Development:

  • Stay informed on best practices, regulatory changes, and innovations in IDD services through ongoing education and professional networking.
  • Promote a culture of continuous learning and improvement within the program and staff team.

Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Special Education, or a related field.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience working in IDD services or a similar role.
  • Familiarity with California IDD systems and regulatory requirements preferred.

Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of person-centered planning and positive behavior support techniques.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency with case management and documentation systems.

Age Requirement:

  • Must be at least 18 years old.

Certifications:

  • CPR and First Aid certification (preferred).
  • Valid California Driver’s License with reliable transportation.
