Stuart Oncology Associates, P.A is committed to providing exceptional patient-centered care. We seek a dedicated and skilled Radiation Therapist to join our multidisciplinary oncology team. The ideal candidate will demonstrate clinical excellence and compassion in delivering high-quality radiation therapy treatments.
Position Summary
Under general supervision, the Radiation Therapist will administer prescribed radiation treatments to patients in accordance with physician directives and established department protocols. This role includes patient setup, operation of therapy equipment, accurate documentation, and collaboration with radiation oncologists, physicists, dosimetrists, and other healthcare professionals.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver radiation therapy treatments safely and accurately to oncology patients
- Prepare treatment plans and assist with simulation procedures
- Operate and maintain linear accelerators and ancillary radiation therapy equipment
- Monitor patient condition and document treatment progress
- Ensure adherence to radiation safety standards and quality assurance protocols
- Provide patient education and emotional support throughout treatment
- Assist with departmental QA/QC, chart review, and compliance tasks
Minimum QualificationsEducation & Documentation
- Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in Radiation Therapy, Radiologic Technology, or related field from an accredited program.
Licensing & Certification
- State of Florida Radiation Therapy License (Certified Radiologic Technologist – Radiation Therapy) issued by the Florida Department of Health, Division of Medical Quality Assurance is required prior to employment or at least within hiring timeframe.
- ARRT Radiation Therapy (RT) Certification in good standing is strongly preferred or required.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (e.g., AHA) preferred.
Note: Florida requires completion of an approved educational program and passing a licensure exam (state or ARRT) to be certified/licensed to practice radiation therapy.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with external beam radiation therapy technologies (e.g., IMRT, IGRT, SBRT)
- Experience with simulation CT systems and oncology imaging
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work effectively in a team-based environment
Physical & Work Environment Requirements
- Ability to assist and position patients safely
- Frequent walking, standing, and physical movement during shifts
- Comfortable with exposure-controlled radiation therapy environments
- May include rotating shifts or flexible hours based on patient schedule
