Position Summary

The Certified Medical Dosimetrist develops and implements customized radiation treatment plans that optimize tumor control while minimizing exposure to healthy tissue. Working closely with Radiation Oncologists, Medical Physicists, and Radiation Therapists, the Dosimetrist ensures safe, accurate, and efficient dosimetric planning and contributes to quality assurance and clinical efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create, calculate, and optimize external beam and specialized radiation treatment plans in accordance with physician prescriptions and departmental standards.
  • Collaborate with Radiation Oncologists and Medical Physicists to ensure accurate dosimetric coverage and compliance with clinical goals.Utilize advanced treatment planning systems (e.g., Eclipse, ARIA, MIM) for 3D, IMRT, VMAT, and other modalities.
  • Conduct routine quality assurance and plan evaluation checks.
  • Participate in chart rounds, QA meetings, and multidisciplinary treatment planning discussions.
  • Document treatment plans and calculations in electronic record systems.
  • Provide training and guidance to staff or trainees in dosimetric techniques as required.

Required QualificationsEducation

  • Bachelor's or Associate degree in Medical Dosimetry, Radiation Therapy, Radiologic Technology, Physical Science, or related field from an accredited institution.

Certification & Licensure

  • Certified Medical Dosimetrist (CMD) credential from the Medical Dosimetry Certification Board (MDCB) is required.
  • Active registration and adherence to any applicable Florida professional certification rules. Additional credentialing (e.g., ARRT) may be preferred but is not required depending on practice scope.

Experience

  • Minimum of 1–3 years of clinical dosimetry experience preferred.
  • Experience with multiple treatment planning systems and advanced planning techniques preferred.

Skills

  • Strong analytical, mathematical, and computer skills.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork capabilities.
  • Detail-oriented with commitment to quality care and safety.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

  • Ability to work in a clinical outpatient cancer center setting.
  • Frequent use of computers and treatment planning systems.
  • Occasional standing, walking, and physical activity to support team workflow.
