Job Summary
The HR Business Partner (HRBP) partners with clinical and non-clinical leaders to align human resources strategies with patient care and organizational goals. This role supports a highly regulated, fast-paced healthcare environment by driving workforce planning, employee relations, compliance, and talent initiatives while promoting a culture of safety, compassion, and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Partner with hospital, clinic, and departmental leaders to develop HR strategies that support quality patient care and operational excellence
- Serve as a trusted advisor to clinical managers (physicians, nurses, allied health professionals) on employee relations, performance management, and workforce issues
- Support recruitment, onboarding, and retention of clinical and non-clinical staff, including hard-to-fill and critical roles
- Ensure compliance with healthcare labor laws, accreditation standards, licensing requirements, and regulatory bodies
- Manage employee relations issues, including investigations, grievances, disciplinary actions, and conflict resolution in accordance with healthcare policies
- Support performance management, credentialing, and competency-based evaluations for clinical staff
- Analyze workforce metrics such as turnover, staffing ratios, absenteeism, and engagement to support data-driven decisions
- Partner with leaders on change management initiatives, including new service lines, staffing model changes, and organizational restructuring
- Promote employee well-being, safety, diversity, and inclusion in alignment with healthcare values
- Collaborate with HR Centers of Excellence (Talent Acquisition, Learning & Development, Compensation & Benefits) to deliver integrated HR solutions
Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, or a related field
- Proven experience as an HR Business Partner or senior HR generalist, preferably in a healthcare setting
- Strong knowledge of healthcare employment laws, union environments (if applicable), and regulatory compliance
- Experience supporting clinical staff and 24/7 operations
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and conflict resolution skills
- Ability to balance empathy with policy enforcement in sensitive situations
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- High level of confidentiality and professionalism
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Human Resources, Healthcare Administration, or a related field
- HR certification (SHRM, HRCI, CIPD)
- Experience working in hospitals, long-term care, or multi-site healthcare organizations
