About the Role:
We are currently seeking a Clinical Medical Physicist (M.S. or Ph.D.) to join a growing radiation oncology team in Odessa, TX. The position offers an excellent opportunity to work in a progressive clinical environment equipped with state-of-the-art technology, while collaborating with an experienced team of Radiation Oncologists, Dosimetrists, and Therapists.
This role involves providing comprehensive medical physics support for radiation therapy services, ensuring accurate treatment delivery and adherence to safety standards. Occasional travel to a nearby sister clinic in Midland, TX (approximately 20 miles) may be required.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform calibration, QA, and maintenance of linear accelerators, CT simulators, and HDR afterloaders.
- Support and verify treatment plans using Eclipse TPS, Oncentra TPS, and RadCalc.
- Conduct patient-specific QA for IMRT, VMAT, SBRT, SRS, and HDR cases.
- Oversee radiation safety procedures and assist with RSO duties for x-ray registration and RAM licensing.
- Collaborate with oncologists and dosimetrists to ensure optimal treatment accuracy and efficiency.
- Participate in audits, compliance checks, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Maintain documentation and reports per state and federal regulatory requirements.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Master’s degree in Medical Physics from an accredited university (Ph.D. preferred)
- Graduate of a CAMPEP-accredited residency program
- ABR board certification (or equivalent) in Therapeutic Medical Physics
- Texas Medical Board licensure (or eligibility to obtain)
- HDR planning and treatment experience required
- Strong knowledge of Varian linear accelerators, Elekta/Nucletron HDR systems, and MOSAIQ/ARIA
Preferred Experience:
- Experience with SRS, SBRT, and HDR techniques
- Ability to be added to a RAM license
- Familiarity with QA tools such as MapCheck3, IC Profiler, SNC Routine, and 3D scanning systems
- Strong analytical, communication, and documentation skills
