About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and certified Medical Physicist (Ph.D. or M.S.) to join a leading radiation oncology team in Midland, TX. This role involves providing clinical medical physics support for external beam radiation therapy and brachytherapy services, ensuring patient safety, accuracy, and compliance with all applicable regulations.
The ideal candidate will be board-certified, licensed in Texas, and experienced with HDR, SRS, SBRT, and Varian systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide clinical physics support for external beam and HDR brachytherapy treatments.
- Perform QA for treatment planning systems, linear accelerators, and HDR equipment.
- Participate in patient-specific QA, dosimetry verification, and treatment plan checks.
- Maintain compliance with all AAPM, NRC, and state regulations.
- Serve as Radiation Safety Officer (RSO) for RAM license and x-ray registration.
- Collaborate with physicians, dosimetrists, and therapists to ensure optimal treatment delivery.
- Support process improvement, documentation, and accreditation efforts.
Preferred Experience
- Varian TrueBeam linear accelerators
- Elekta/Nucletron microSelectron HDR afterloader
- Oncentra and Eclipse Treatment Planning Systems
- ARIA or MOSAIQ Record & Verify systems
- Experience with HDR, SBRT, and SRS procedures
- Knowledge of RadCalc, Mapcheck3, IC Profiler, 3DS scanning systems
Qualifications
- Master’s or Ph.D. in Medical Physics from an accredited university (Required)
- Graduate from a CAMPEP-accredited residency program (Required)
- ABR board certification (or equivalent) in Therapeutic Medical Physics (Required)
- Full Texas Licensure in Medical Physics (Required)
- Experience in HDR planning and treatment
- Eligible to be added to a RAM license
- Strong communication, documentation, and organizational skills
- Ability to occasionally travel to a sister clinic (Odessa, TX – ~20 miles)
Compensation and Term
