Prominent Plastic Surgery center and Medspa in Southern California seeks: A RN/LVN-Surgical Coordinator
Pre & Post op Nurse
- Prepare charts for Day of Surgery, Call & Confirm cases
with staff & pts day before surgery (except same day consult procedures-patient coordinator does this).
- Meeting/Instructing pts pre & post op, scheduling all
follow up post-surgical appoints (initial pre-op appointment is scheduled by the patient coordinator).
- Preparing consent forms appropriately, collecting all pre op
testing, calling in prescriptions, and preparing off work notices for surgeon to sign
- Collects and communicates with outside surgeon’s office
regarding all pre op tests, consents, and required medical clearances.
- Notify physician of pre op tests, pre op and post op patient
concerns requiring physician involvement
- Follow-up with pathology office for results/reports and scan
- Prepare intra op/removed breast implants mailing for evaluation
to implant companies, including correspondence form of returning implants.
- Scan all medical records once they have been reviewed for
accuracy including appropriate signatures.
- Medical records include but are not limited to all pre-op
and post-op tests results, consents, OR documents, prescriptions off work notices and disability forms
- Schedules all hospital cases, coordinates pre op appointments at
hospital. Fax orders, etc. Confirm.
- Obtain face-sheets, OP notes, etc. from Hospital. Scan and
Handle all hospital correspondence.
- Calls all scheduled surgical patients to confirm pre-op
appointments with patient reminder of pre-op tests/clearances that need to be completed prior to surgery date.
- Calls all surgical patients the day prior to surgery with
specific instructions including arrival time and confirming name of patient driver. If patient is outside surgeon’s patient
confirms surgery center address
- Escort pre-op patients, immediate post-op patients, and
minor procedure patients to appropriate exam room and follow protocol as outlined in policy and procedure documents
- Escort Surgery observers to the OR after ensuring the OR
team is aware and ready for the observer’s arrival.
- Take proper photos of surgical sites pre op & post op.
(This depends on the specific surgeon’s preference of doing the photos him/herself)
- Assist with TCA Peels and minor procedures, instruct
patients, see at follow-ups.
- Suture & drain removal & dressing changes with patients.
- Schedules all hospital cases, coordinates pre op appointments at
hospital. Fax orders, etc. Confirm.
- Obtain face-sheets, OP notes, etc. from Hospital. Scan and
Handle all hospital correspondence.
Requirements
Communication with the Operating Room (OR) Director:
- 1. Notify OR Director of Implant sizes to be ordered (via
e-clinical message)
- 2. Notify OR Director of any concerns/needed changes about
the patient and or surgery schedule
- 3. Assist OR Director when needed at OR Director’s request
(secondary to her being in the OR)
- 4. Notify patient coordinator if pre-op appointment is moved
to less than 2 weeks from scheduled OR date
- Take all Triage Calls for all physicians.
- Take all Pharmacy calls.
- Take inventory of procedure rooms 3 and A twice per week
- Notify Head Surgery Tech or OR Director of needed items for
room 3 and A
- Clean demo implants every 2 weeks
- Stock & order garments including but not limited to
abdominal binders, lipo compression garments, face compressions,etc.
- Attach surgical garment to patient surgical chart
- Assist with office laundry as back up.
Medical Records:
- Ensures all surgery documents including consents, operative
reports, pre and post-operative forms and notes are organized, appropriately signed, and completed
- Scan all medical records into E-Clinical once they have
been reviewed for accuracy including appropriate signatures.
- Medical records include but are not limited to all pre-op
and post-op tests results, consents, OR documents, prescriptions off work notices and disability forms
- Provide copies of medical records upon requests from
patients, attorneys, other physician offices, etc.
- Prepare all Peer Review Charts quarterly, input to AAAA
website appropriately as required.
- Prepare all Surgery Logs for physicians.
Insurance Dept:
- Assist pts & doctors with disability forms, coding etc.
for insurance coverage.
- Obtain current insurance information on patients.
- Hospital Re-appointments for physicians, providing hospital
administration all required documents.
- Follow-up with renewals for physicians, including DEA, CA
License, ACLS cert, Malpractice Insurance.
