Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and highly skilled RN Weekend Supervisor to oversee nursing operations during weekend shifts in a dynamic healthcare setting. The ideal candidate will possess extensive clinical expertise, leadership capabilities, and a commitment to delivering exceptional patient care. This role offers an opportunity to lead nursing teams, ensure compliance with healthcare regulations, and enhance patient outcomes through effective supervision and coordination. The RN Weekend Supervisor will play a vital role in maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and efficiency across all nursing activities during weekends.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and coordinate nursing staff during weekend shifts, ensuring optimal patient care delivery in accordance with established policies and procedures.
  • Oversee patient assessments, vital signs monitoring, and medical documentation to maintain accurate and comprehensive records.
  • Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations, state healthcare laws, and long-term care regulations while safeguarding patient confidentiality.
  • Manage medication administration, IV infusion procedures, catheter care, and other clinical interventions with precision and adherence to protocols.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including physicians, therapists, and case managers to facilitate discharge planning and coordinate complex care needs.
  • Conduct physical examinations, evaluate patient conditions, and initiate appropriate interventions for acute or chronic health issues.
  • Utilize electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic or Cerner for documentation, order entry, and communication across departments.
  • Provide leadership in emergency situations such as airway management or ventilator troubleshooting while maintaining a calm and focused approach.
  • Mentor nursing staff on best practices related to infection control, medical terminology, and advanced clinical procedures like spinal taps or cardiac catheterization support.
  • Lead quality improvement initiatives by participating in utilization review, case management activities, and ensuring nursing policy compliance.

Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license with current state certification.
  • Proven supervisory or team management experience within skilled nursing facilities or acute care environments.
  • Proficiency with PCC.
  • Strong knowledge of medical terminology, physiology, ICD coding (ICD-9/ICD-10), and healthcare regulations including HIPAA and state healthcare laws.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform comprehensive patient assessments and manage complex cases involving dementia care or behavioral health issues.
  • Skills in medication administration, IV insertion/infusion therapy, sterile technique, and specimen collection/processing.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to lead teams effectively while managing multiple priorities under pressure.
  • Familiarity with managed care principles such as utilization review and discharge planning processes is preferred.
