Job Title: Staff Mobile App Engineer
Duration: 6 months contract-to-hire
Location: (Hybrid) Minneapolis, Minnesota
Overview
Set the technical direction for our React Native mobile apps and build it yourself. You will own the mobile roadmap while staying deep in the codebase, raising the bar on quality, performance, and delivery practices for the team. We take an AI-first approach to engineering, so you will develop the tools, skills, and practices that support agentic development across the team.
Responsibilities:
• Define and drive the mobile roadmap, partnering with Product and Design on what we build and in what order.
• Stay hands-on: design, write, and ship production React Native code, not just review it.
• Establish standards and best practices for React Native architecture, testing, performance, and release management.
• Improve app performance, stability, and observability using Datadog and release tooling.
• Integrate with backend and platform services such as NestJS, Apollo GraphQL, Piano, and Sailthru.
• Participate in code review and on-call, and mentor engineers on mobile craft.
Requirements:
• Extensive experience building and shipping production mobile apps at scale.
• Deep React Native and TypeScript experience is a major plus, though strong native iOS/Android experience is also welcome.
• Strong experience deploying, managing, and monitoring apps in both the Apple App Store and Google Play Store.
• A track record of setting mobile technical direction while remaining a strong hands-on contributor.
• Depth in mobile performance, offline/caching, and automated testing.
• Comfort with GraphQL APIs and modern CI/CD (GitHub).
The projected hourly range for this position is $70-75/hr.
