Sr. Data Scientist

We're partnering with a highly collaborative Data Science team that's looking for an experienced Senior Data Scientist to help maintain, improve, and scale a mature portfolio of production machine learning models. This is an opportunity to join a small, agile team where your ideas matter and you'll work closely with Data Engineers and business stakeholders to deliver measurable business value.

Unlike organizations focused primarily on research or building new models from scratch, this team spends most of its time optimizing, retraining, monitoring, and enhancing existing production models while selectively developing new solutions where they can make the biggest impact. They're looking for a hands-on technical leader who enjoys solving business problems, mentoring teammates, and working across a variety of machine learning use cases.

What You'll Do

• Lead the enhancement, tuning, retraining, and optimization of production machine learning models
• Support an established portfolio of predictive models while contributing to limited new model development (approximately 80% optimization, 20% new development)
• Partner closely with Data Engineers to support data pipelines, feature engineering, and model deployment
• Build and maintain datasets using Python, SQL, and Snowflake
• Monitor model performance, identify opportunities for improvement, and manage the full model lifecycle
• Work in Jupyter Notebooks within a cloud-based environment
• Mentor junior and mid-level Data Scientists through technical guidance and collaboration
• Translate business problems into scalable machine learning solutions
• Communicate technical findings to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Contribute to team best practices, standards, and continuous improvement within an agile CI/CD environment

What We're Looking For

• 5 years of experience in Data Science, Machine Learning, or Applied Analytics
• Strong hands-on experience with Python and SQL
• Experience developing, deploying, monitoring, and maintaining production machine learning models
• Experience selecting appropriate machine learning algorithms and improving existing models
• Experience working with Snowflake
• Experience using Git, GitHub, GitHub Actions, and VS Code (or a similar IDE)
• Strong understanding of model monitoring, model drift, feature engineering, and production machine learning
• Experience working in Jupyter Notebooks
• Ability to mentor teammates and collaborate across technical and business teams
• Comfortable working in an agile, iterative development environment

Nice to Have

• Experience with recommendation or personalization engines
• Customer lifecycle modeling including churn, propensity, segmentation, or customer lifetime value
• Experience supporting customer-facing machine learning applications
• CI/CD and MLOps experience

Employment Type: Contract-to-Hire

The projected hourly range for this position is $85 to $95.
