Staff Data Scientist

Contract-to-Hire | Hybrid

We're seeking a Staff Data Scientist to lead the strategy and execution of machine learning initiatives focused on personalization, recommendations, audience growth, and business insights. This is a highly hands-on role where you'll define the data science roadmap while building, deploying, and supporting production machine learning models that directly impact the business.

Responsibilities

• Lead the data science roadmap for personalization, audience growth, subscriptions, and content recommendations.
• Design, build, deploy, and maintain recommendation engines and predictive machine learning models in production.
• Own the end-to-end machine learning lifecycle, including deployment, monitoring, retraining, and performance optimization.
• Develop near-real-time prediction capabilities to power customer-facing experiences.
• Design and analyze experiments (A/B testing) to measure business impact and inform product decisions.
• Establish best practices for experimentation, model evaluation, reproducibility, and ML deployment.
• Partner closely with Data Engineering and Cloud Engineering teams to build scalable data solutions.
• Communicate analytical findings and recommendations to technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Required Qualifications

• Extensive hands-on experience building and supporting production recommendation or personalization engines.
• Strong background in applied statistics, predictive analytics, and machine learning.
• Experience deploying and managing production ML models; MLOps experience is highly preferred.
• Strong SQL skills with experience working in Snowflake and modern BI platforms such as Domo.
• Demonstrated ability to lead technical direction while remaining a hands-on individual contributor.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to present complex analytical insights to business stakeholders.
