The Opportunity
The Merchandising & Purchasing Specialist will play a critical role in managing supplier relationships, overseeing purchasing activities, coordinating product development, and supporting merchandising initiatives across multiple product categories.
This position requires strong analytical skills, exceptional organization, and the ability to manage multiple projects while ensuring products are delivered on time, within budget, and aligned with Oliveda's premium brand standards.
Key Responsibilities
Purchasing & Vendor Management
- Identify, evaluate, and establish relationships with domestic and international suppliers and manufacturers.
- Negotiate pricing, contracts, and favorable terms to maximize value while maintaining quality standards.
- Manage supplier performance to ensure consistent quality, reliability, and timely delivery.
- Develop long-term supplier partnerships that support business growth and operational efficiency.
Product Development & Merchandising
- Coordinate the development of apparel, accessories, retail merchandise, and promotional products from concept through production.
- Collaborate with internal teams to ensure products align with Oliveda's brand vision, quality expectations, and merchandising strategy.
- Support seasonal product launches and merchandising initiatives across retail locations.
- Assist in developing product assortments that enhance the customer experience and support sales objectives.
Inventory Planning & Procurement
- Collaborate with internal departments to forecast demand and develop purchasing plans.
- Maintain optimal inventory levels while minimizing excess inventory and stock shortages.
- Issue purchase orders, monitor production timelines, and track deliveries to ensure timely fulfillment.
- Resolve purchasing, shipping, or supplier issues proactively to minimize disruptions.
Analysis & Operational Excellence
- Analyze market trends, supplier pricing, and product performance to identify cost-saving opportunities.
- Maintain accurate purchasing records, supplier agreements, and inventory documentation.
- Ensure purchasing activities comply with company policies and established procedures.
- Continuously identify opportunities to improve purchasing processes and operational efficiency.
Qualifications
We are seeking an organized and detail-oriented professional who thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. Preferred qualifications include:
- 4 years of experience in purchasing, merchandising, procurement, product development, or retail operations.
- Experience within beauty, skincare, fashion, apparel, accessories, luxury retail, or premium consumer brands is strongly preferred.
- Proven experience negotiating with vendors and managing supplier relationships.
- Strong understanding of inventory planning, purchasing processes, and product lifecycle management.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and purchasing or inventory management systems.
- Outstanding communication and project management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities while meeting deadlines.
