Principle Function
Olive Baptist Church is building a student ministry team that will work together to fulfill the mission statement that Olive Baptist Church exists to develop fully devoted followers of Jesus Christ.
The Executive Assistant to Minister of Education provides administrative support to the Minister of Education, meeting the secretarial, clerical and creative needs of that ministry.
Principle Responsibilities
• Clerical needs of the Education Ministry and Minister of Education
• Calendaring
• Phone Calls
• Assist the Education Team and Ministry so that many other can be effective and successful in their ministries (Connection Groups & Bible Study Groups)
• Prepare and send Education Newsletter weekly and the Education Prayer Team list bi-weekly.
• Work with ministry teachers, directors, and other volunteers
• Order and disperse literature orders from Preschool to Mature Adults
• Maintain attendance records for Sunday mornings and Wednesday Evenings. Provide assistance to group leaders for recording attendance and guests.
• Coordinate groups (calendaring, rooms, setups, book orders, copies, packets, etc.)
• Prepare and plan for church wide events that involve connection groups, Bible study groups, or other educational ministries
• Prepare calendars for Wednesday/Sunday to be used at Welcome Centers and main office
• Update Guest Services volunteers regarding class schedules and locations, and provide pamphlets and such for use at Guest Services
• Keep information regarding the Sunday School structure and discipleship classes for web pages current
• Keep web groups current
• Perform other functions as requested by the Minister of Education
• Provide budget oversight for education expense lines
Qualifications
The candidate should have:
• A minimum of a high school diploma or GED.
• Basic clerical skills.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• A caring attitude, excellent people skills, high integrity, and the ability to exercise discretion and confidentiality.
• Proficiency in Microsoft 365.
• The ability to learn and use new software programs.
The candidate should demonstrate:
• A love for God and His people.
• A joyful submission to the leadership and staff and must be, or become, a member of Olive Baptist Church, actively participating in worship and discipleship.
• Agreement with the Baptist Faith and Message 2000.
Working Conditions & Compensation
1. Full-Time: This is a full-time position. The position will require being in office four weekdays, plus serving on Sunday morning and Wednesday evening. Typically, the weekday out of office will be Friday.
2. Compensation: Wages will be proportionate with knowledge and experience. This position is eligible for health, dental, and vacation benefits.
3. Evening and Weekend Activities: The education ministry requires a flexible schedule, as some weekday evenings and weekends may require attendance.
4. Physical Demands: This position is primarily in a fluid, indoor environment. The physical demands are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential competencies of this job and include sitting, standing, walking, talking, and hearing.
