ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Provide outstanding service and contribute to overall team effort.
- Lead components of the month‑end and year‑end close process, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Assist in the preparation of financial statements and supporting analytical reports, maintaining a high standard of accuracy and reliability.
- Prepare and submit the NCUA 5300 Call Report and other regulatory filings, including the quarterly reporting for collateralized borrowings.
- Monitor compliance with GAAP, NCUA regulations, and internal policies including proper accounting treatment for new products, services, and system enhancements.
- Support internal and external audits, including responding to auditor inquiries and preparing schedules.
- Assist with liquidity monitoring, cash flow forecasting, and investment portfolio accounting.
- Support ALM (Asset/Liability Management) reporting and modeling inputs.
- Deliver financial analysis to support budgeting, forecasting, strategic planning, and evaluation of member and external products and programs.
- Maintain accounting modules for fixed assets and pre-paid expenditures and ensure proper accounting treatment.
- Analyze and interpret financial data and recommend changes to improve systems and financial performance.
- Prepare monthly reconciliations for assigned general ledger accounts. Identify and research out-of-balance conditions, resolving discrepancies promptly.
- Ensure confidentiality regarding member transactions and information.
- Ensure compliance with all credit union policies and procedures.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field.
- Three years of experience in a senior accounting position, or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience with accounting in a financial institution is preferred.
- Bi-lingual in English and Spanish is a plus.
