- The External Auditor 2 works under direction of the Financial Manager, conducting routine, non-routine &/or specialized audits of simply-structured &/or complex programs administered by the Ohio Department of Public Safety (ODPS) &/or providers receiving financial resources (e.g., researching & gathering program & financial information, performing reviews & analysis of records, operations, activities, or systems & providing technical assistance to state & local agencies & ODPS management when requested or when needs are identified);
- Conduct on-site fiscal monitoring (e.g., financial, compliance, &/or programmatic monitoring) to ensure compliance with applicable federal & state statutes, regulations, & grant requirements to include the uniform administrative requirements & cost principles for federal & state grants;
- Assess internal controls developed & implemented by the sub-grantee to demonstrate compliance with applicable requirements, including organizational operations, policies, procedures, financial reports, & record-keeping;
- Test the allowability of expenditures charged to federal & state grants;
- Prepare questions to pose during fiscal monitoring;
- Review reference materials & confer with staff members relative to previous fiscal monitoring's & submitted sub-recipient reports.
Option 1
4 yrs. exp. in auditing or accounting which must have included 2 yrs. auditing exp. in accordance with auditing standards or in accordance with prescribed management policies &/or procedures as specified on agency position description.
Option 2
- Or completion of undergraduate core coursework in accounting, business administration, computer science or related field;
Option 3
- Or 12 mos. exp. as External Auditor 1, 66461.
- Or equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications for Employment noted above.
