Hours Worked: 8:00AM to 5:00PM; Working days and hours may vary

- Inspect motor vehicles including motor homes, campers, school buses, church buses, self-assembled vehicles, & salvage vehicles to determine whether they are unsafe or improperly equipped, or that equipment is in proper adjustment or repair as required by law by entering & exiting vehicles & bends, stoops & utilizes mechanics' "creeper" in order to crawl under vehicle to visually check vehicle mechanical components.
- Enter & retrieve information using numerous Ohio State Highway Patrol (OSHP) databases.
- Complete inspection forms & affix inspection decals to those vehicles which pass.
- Operate state owned motor vehicle inspection vehicle to transport equipment used in motor vehicle inspection.
- Inform the owner &/or operator of repairs or adjustments which are necessary to place the vehicle in safe condition.
6 mos. trg. or 6 mos. exp. in automotive maintenance & repair &/or mechanical vehicle inspections;
AND 6 mo. exp. utilizing personal computer & associated business office applications (Microsoft applications such as Word, Excel, Outlook.);
AND formal education in arithmetic that includes addition & subtraction & in reading, writing & speaking common English vocabulary;
AND valid driver's license.
- Or equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications for Employment noted above.
