Educational Transcript Requirements

The Bureau of Maternal, Child, and Family Health (BMCFH) is organized to support families by improving birth outcomes and the health status of women, infants, children, and youth, including children and youth with complex health care needs. Using data and proven practice, the bureau’s programs support the delivery of direct services, linkages and referrals, population-based supports, program evaluation, education, monitoring and quality oversight, and policy and systems development.
The Bureau of Maternal, Child and Family Health is looking for a Public Health Consultant to work collaboratively with healthcare providers, schools, community organizations and public health partners to support statewide asthma initiatives. Duties include:
- Coordinate and support statewide asthma program initiatives, partnerships, and community engagement activities.
- Provide technical assistance, education, and consultation to healthcare professionals, schools and community organizations.
- Develop and deliver presentations, trainings, education materials, and outreach resources related to asthma management and prevention.
- Assist with planning, implementing and evaluating public health programs and populations-based initiatives.
- Monitor program performance and analyze data to support reporting, compliance and continuous improvement efforts.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to improve asthma-related health outcomes across Ohio communities.
- Support communication and outreach efforts through newsletters, reports, surveys and public education campaigns.
- Assist with grant management activities including application reviews, budget monitoring and contract coordination and funding recommendations.
- Research public health trends, policies and best practices to support program development and strategic initiatives.
- Participate in conferences, trainings, and workgroups as assigned.
Position Qualifications
- 6 mos. exp. in providing direct service &/or consultation in a public health, community health, hospital &/or clinic setting (e.g., program evaluations, working with grants, developing & presenting training programs & in facilitating, working collaboratively with coalitions or groups) AND completion of graduate core coursework in public health, health care, health administration or related field AND must be able to provide own transportation.
- 18 mos. exp. in providing direct service &/or consultation in a public health, community health, hospital &/or clinic setting (e.g., program evaluations, working with grants, developing & presenting training programs & in facilitating, working collaboratively with coalitions or groups) AND completion of undergraduate core coursework in public health, health care, health administration or related field AND must be able to provide own transportation.
- Or equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications for Employment noted above.
Applications of those who meet the minimum qualifications will be further evaluated against the following criteria:
- Graduate or advanced degree in public health, health care or health administration.
- Master Certified Health Education Specialist/Certified Health Education Specialist
- Experience facilitating or coordinating meetings, coalitions and/or trainings
- Experience developing and presenting training and/or public speaking
- Experience providing outreach to individuals and families affected by asthma
- Experience providing outreach to healthcare professionals serving individuals affected by asthma
- Experience providing technical assistance and/or consultation related to asthma program, services or care
- Experience providing technical assistance related to the planning, implementation, and evaluation of population-based programs
- Experience implementing a communication plan
- Experience creating solicitations and monitoring contracts and grants
- Experience with computer software (e.g., Microsoft Word, Microsoft PowerPoint, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Access)
