HVAC Lead Installer / AOR Installer Position Summary
The HVAC Lead Installer / AOR Installer performs high-quality residential and light commercial HVAC system replacements, change-outs, and start-ups. This role requires advanced installation skill, strong diagnostic capability, leadership in the field, and a professional customer presence. The Lead Installer is responsible for executing installation projects safely, efficiently, and in full compliance with manufacturer specifications and local code, while maintaining Odyssey Mechanical craftsmanship standards.
Core Responsibilities
System Replacements and Change-Outs
● Perform residential and light commercial HVAC change-outs
● Remove and replace furnaces, air handlers, condensers, heat pumps, and packaged units
● Install systems according to manufacturer specifications and company standards
● Ensure proper equipment sizing, airflow setup, and system configuration
● Install and modify line sets, drains, condensate systems, and refrigerant piping as needed
Start-Ups and Commissioning
● Perform full system start-ups and commissioning procedures
● Verify refrigerant charge, airflow, static pressure, and electrical performance
● Confirm thermostat programming and system operation
● Identify and correct installation deficiencies before job completion
● Troubleshoot performance issues during start-up
Light Duct Work
● Perform duct modifications and transitions as required for system replacements
● Fabricate and install basic duct fittings and plenums
● Ensure proper airflow design and sealing
● Verify duct integrity and support
Electrical and Controls
● Read and interpret wiring schematics
● Complete low voltage and high voltage connections
● Install disconnects and basic electrical components as needed
● Ensure proper grounding and electrical safety compliance
Project Execution
● Review job scope, material lists, and installation notes prior to starting
● Verify equipment and materials before mobilizing to jobsite
● Maintain clean, organized work areas
● Complete installations with minimal rework and high craftsmanship
● Ensure all work passes inspection and meets code requirements
● Document job progress with photos and accurate notes
Customer Interaction
● Present professionally in appearance and communication
● Communicate clearly with homeowners regarding installation scope and system operation
● Conduct final walkthroughs explaining equipment features and maintenance expectations
● Represent Odyssey Mechanical with professionalism and accountability
Leadership and Accountability
● Lead and direct installers and helpers on job sites
● Ensure productivity and quality standards are met
● Promote safety and craftsmanship expectations within the crew
● Maintain a positive, accountable work environment
Required Skills and Experience
● Minimum 3 to 5 years HVAC installation experience
● Strong background in duct work and airflow fundamentals
● Deep understanding of air conditioning system components and operation
● Experienced in start-ups and troubleshooting
● Ability to read and interpret wiring schematics
● Light electrical knowledge
● Strong mechanical aptitude
● Professional customer communication skills
● Valid driver’s license with clean driving record

Pay: $25.00 - $35.00 per hour
