The IT Manager is responsible for hands-on managing and maintaining an effective and efficient information technology (IT) infrastructure for the university. The IT Manager serves as the project manager or supervisor for all IT related initiatives and projects. These include construction, departmental systems, campus wide systems, and security systems. The IT Manager directs and supervises the IT staff, manages the department budget, and participates in strategic planning with the ITO AVP. Acts as a single point of contact for OculusIT on all IT matters, including budgeting, overall IT service management, and strategy development. Acts as Oculus IT's consul on-site, representing the entire company.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
● Maintain and improve the IT infrastructure consisting of the campus network and cable plant, phone system, physical conditions in the data center and network closets, server hardware, virtual environment, storage systems, backup systems, security systems, internet connection, monitoring and notification, in alignment with Oculus IT’s Global Team.
● Co-develops the IT strategy with University leadership and Oculus IT leadership, follows, maintains, communicates and executes it.
● Install, operate and maintain network hardware, software and peripheral equipment, following design or installation specifications including routers (wired and wireless), switches, and operating systems.
● Perform troubleshooting procedures to return systems to operational status.
● Ensure proactive, ITIL-based, secure infrastructure operations, utilizing Oculus IT’s SOC and NOC.
● Install, operate and maintain optimal network security technologies and processes.
● Maintain telephone system, call and voice mail routing, ensuring full connectivity.
● Provide expertise to achieve strategic business objectives.
● Maintain information security metrics and visibility to information security issues in alignment with Oculus IT’s vCISO.
● Provide IT asset management for all components of the WPU network infrastructure.
● Work with departments across campus to set up and improve existing technology or implement new technology.
● Meet institutional and IT goals by effectively managing objectives, resources and timelines of projects.
● Present recommendations on technology to senior leadership.
● Lead computing and information technology strategic plan executions, policies, computer services, network communications, and management information services to accomplish college goals and objectives.
● Lead the information and data integrity of the college.
● Suggest and establish operating policies and approaches for computing and information technology.
● Oversees the university’s cyber security initiatives.
● Evaluate overall operations of computing and information technology functions and recommend enhancements.
● Facilitate training of employees.
● Respond to audit questions and concerns related to information technology.
● Oversee ongoing improvements and the feasibility of system enhancements.
● Back up staff as needed.
● Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in an IT related field with 5 years of relevant experience in networking (CISCO switches, routers, VPNs, firewalls) and supporting/managing server (hardware and storage arrays), Windows active directory environment (AD tools, replication, FRS, group policy), Microsoft server operating system (permissions, FRS, group policies), and exchange services (hub, client, edge, mail flow, anti-spam filtering, patches, backups). Must have supervisory (3rd party or employee) experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in university setting. Experience with general IT systems, Google, Microsoft, cybersecurity and general client service.
