Job Description Deputy Managing Director – LOSSAN Rail Corridor Agency Join the team powering one of the nation’s most important passenger rail corridors. As the Deputy Managing Director, you’ll serve as the primary backup to the Managing Director and play a key leadership role in guiding agency strategy, operations, and communications. This position provides direction across all functional areas and supports the achievement of LOSSAN’s goals. This is an exempt position in Salary Grade 285: Min $213,595.20 – Mid $255,153.60 – Max $296,691.20 per year. The starting salary will be within this range based on qualifications. This posting will remain open until filled. What You’ll Do Support and advise the Managing Director in coordinating agency-wide activities and implementing organizational goals. Lead development of Board, Executive Committee, and Technical Advisory Committee agendas and communications; regularly engage with Board members. Oversee policy development, staff performance, and implementation of service, commercial, and cost-efficiency initiatives. Monitor budgets, schedules, and agency performance to ensure alignment with strategic objectives and fiscal responsibility. Represent the agency at meetings, committees, and community events; serve as Acting Managing Director when designated. Help shape short- and long-range strategic plans, service initiatives, and the annual business plan. Coordinate corridor-wide rail planning and stakeholder engagement. Support negotiation and oversight of key agreements and reporting on agency-wide performance measures. Build strong relationships with government officials, partner agencies, and community stakeholders. What We’re Looking For Bachelor’s degree in business, management, or related field (advanced degree preferred). Minimum eight years of senior management experience, including transportation sector leadership. Strong strategic planning, communication, and interpersonal skills. Proven ability to collaborate, solve complex problems, and lead organizational initiatives. Skilled in managing staff, budgets, policies, and high-level stakeholder relationships.
