Ocean Echo Inn & Beach Cottages – Santa Cruz, California

Ocean Echo Inn & Beach Cottages is a unique boutique inn located on a quiet street steps from Sunny Cove Beach. Because we are a small inn and cottage property, this position involves more than working behind a traditional hotel front desk. Team members assist with guest services, daily property operations, breakfast service, light housekeeping support, and maintaining a welcoming environment throughout the property.

We are looking for a dependable, friendly, and hands-on individual who is comfortable working independently and helping wherever needed and running this property as their own.

Responsibilities

• Welcome guests and provide friendly, professional service.
• Handle guest check-ins, checkouts, reservations, payments, and telephone inquiries.
• Respond to guest questions, requests, and concerns throughout their stay.
• Communicate information about the property, beach access, local restaurants, and nearby attractions.
• Monitor room status and coordinate with housekeeping to ensure rooms are ready for arriving guests.
• Prepare, restock, and maintain the continental breakfast area.
• Perform light housekeeping and property upkeep as needed, including tidying common areas, taking out trash, restocking supplies, and assisting with laundry.
• Deliver linens, towels, amenities, and other requested items to guest rooms and cottages.
• Inspect rooms and cottages for cleanliness, maintenance concerns, and missing supplies.
• Report maintenance problems and assist with basic troubleshooting when appropriate.
• Maintain the front office, lobby, breakfast area, walkways, and other guest areas in a clean and organized condition.
• Help manage parking and provide guests with property instructions.
• Follow opening, closing, cash-handling, safety, and emergency procedures.
• Assist with other duties necessary for the operation of a small inn and cottage property.

Qualifications

• Previous hotel, inn, vacation-rental, customer-service, or hospitality experience is preferred.
• Friendly, professional, and comfortable interacting with guests.
• Dependable, punctual, and able to work independently.
• Willing to assist with a variety of responsibilities rather than remaining exclusively at the front desk.
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
• Comfortable using computers, reservation systems, email, and payment-processing equipment.
• Able to walk throughout the property, use stairs, stand for extended periods, and lift or carry supplies weighing up to 30 pounds.
• Available to work weekends, holidays, mornings, evenings, and varying shifts as required.

Position Expectations

Ocean Echo Inn & Beach Cottages operates differently from a large, full-service hotel. Employees work as a team and may be asked to assist in different areas of the property during their shift. The successful candidate will understand that guest service includes both front-desk responsibilities and hands-on support throughout the inn and cottages.

Job Type: Part-time
Schedule: We are looking for someone to cover two mornings a week 7:30-2:30 pm Mon/Tues or Wed/Thursday. We are looking for someone to cover WED/SAT/SUN shifts PM 2-9 pm or 2-10 pm on weekends.

Pay: $18.50- $19.50 per hour, depending on experience

Pay: $18.50 - $19.00 per hour
