What are the responsibilities and job description for the Fleet Mechanic-Level II position at Occupational Training Center?
- Ensuring that all vehicles are repaired in accordance with all applicable safety and OM technical manuals and regulations;
- Conducting vehicle inspections;
- Conducting scheduled maintenance;
- Replace engine components such as air induction systems, alternator, belts, brackets, coolant hoses, engine and cab mount bushings, Fan clutch assemblies, lines and fittings, pulleys and tensioners;
- Replace drive shafts, universal joints, brakes and assemblies; adjust operating mechanism;
- Assist senior mechanic in diagnosing malfunctions and performing corrective action on engines, powertrains, suspension, chassis, brakes, adjustments of control linkages, hydraulic systems, mechanisms, electrical and accessories; prepares maintenance forms and records, air conditioning Systems, electronical Diagnosis;
- Servicing and repairing all vehicles in OTC fleet.
- Recording daily activities and performance of (repair schedules, work orders, time records etc.) performing on-road and off-road repairs.
- Respond to environmental spills by containment and proper EPA cleanup procedures.
- Coordinating all repairs with senior mechanic and the Fleet Maintenance Manager.
- Adheres to quality of the vehicle servicing in an efficient and accurate manner.
- Adheres to continued improvement of training, health and safety quality standards
- Assist senior mechanic on routine maintenance or major repairs.
- Participates in daily workload distribution meeting with supervisors.
- Adheres to the record keeping activities in the most efficient manner and with economical costs consistent with prescribed quality, accuracy and performance standards.
- Promptly reports vehicle and safety problems Fleet Maintenance Supervisor or Safety manager.
- Participates in an effective program to address health and safety training and policies to minimize accidents.
- Participates in training programs with department supervisors designed to enhance mechanical training skills.
- Required to maintain performance standards and operational efficiency.
- Attends and maintains records of safety meetings and training programs.
- Works jointly with the supervisor and safety manager to ensure safety standards are followed including OSHA Standards, DOT, NJDMV Regulations and Standards, and O&M Manual Standards
- On an ongoing basis, supports the collection operation efficiency to effectively reduce the cost of services by reducing repair costs, accident losses and enhancing training efforts.
- Investigates driver vehicle concerns.
- Support driver adherence and performance to preventive maintenance procedures.
- Respects resident property and reports damage to supervisors.
- Participates in daily workload distribution meeting with supervisor.
- The mechanic performing the service or repair will document all corrective action taken to correct faults or malfunction.
- The mechanic will request parts needed to correct fault or malfunction through Fleet Administrator or Supervisor.
- Fleet Maintenance Supervisor or Senior Mechanic will verify or conduct quality control or quality assurance of work performed by skill level 1 and 2.
- Improve safety and vehicle maintenance through efficiency and increased worker awareness of preventive maintenance policies.
