The Center for Information Technology (CIT) at Oberlin College is leading a campus-wide transformation to modernize enterprise systems, streamline digital workflows, and expand data-informed decision-making. As part of this effort, Oberlin is preparing to launch a new cloud-based ERP system that will redefine administrative and academic operations for years to come.
The Associate Director of Enterprise Applications will join the institution at this pivotal moment, helping to shape a seamless, service-driven, and student-centered technology environment. This is a full-time, 12-month recurring Administrative and Professional Staff (A&PS) position, reporting to the Senior Director of Enterprise Applications, and requires regular on-campus presence for close collaboration with CIT colleagues and institutional partners.
The Associate Director leads the management and optimization of enterprise applications supporting student services, HR, finance, admissions, CRM, and reporting. This position oversees a team of IT Business Analysts and partners closely with campus offices—including Institutional Effectiveness and Planning (IEP/IR), Registrar, HR, Student Affairs, Finance, Admissions and Financial Aid, and Academic Divisions—to enhance enterprise systems, streamline business processes, and improve reporting and integration.
This role is essential to ensuring enterprise applications are secure, scalable, user-centered, and aligned with the evolving needs of Oberlin’s academic and administrative community.
Enterprise Software Administration
- Oversee enterprise applications, ensuring secure, reliable operation and seamless integration across institutional systems.
- Coordinate upgrades, vendor support, and application lifecycle management.
Team Leadership and Mentorship
- Lead and support a team of IT Business Analysts; promote a collaborative, accountable, and service-focused team culture.
- Align team efforts with institutional strategy and technology modernization goals.
Business Process Improvement
- Partner with campus departments to evaluate and improve business processes supported by enterprise applications.
- Identify automation opportunities and enhance the user experience across academic and administrative functions.
Systems Integration and Data Infrastructure
- Oversee data integrations and collaborate with IEP/IR, Registrar, HR, Student Affairs, Finance, Admissions, Financial Aid, and Academic Divisions to ensure data flows and systems support institutional needs.
- Work closely with CIT infrastructure teams on architecture, APIs, and integration governance.
Reporting, Analytics, and Data Governance
- Develop ERP and self-service reporting in tools like Tableau, Power BI, and native system dashboards.
- Advance data governance by promoting data consistency, quality, and stewardship in collaboration with institutional offices.
Project and Change Management
- Lead cloud ERP projects and related initiatives using formal project and change management practices.
- Coordinate cross-campus communications, testing, and adoption strategies.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Serve as a liaison between technical teams and business users, ensuring needs are understood and addressed.
- Build strong partnerships across CIT and with operational leaders to shape effective enterprise solutions.
Technical and Functional Expertise Required
- Enterprise Application Administration: Manage systems for student, HR, finance, CRM, and admissions operations.
- ERP Process and Reporting Expertise: Understand key workflows (e.g., enrollment, HR, financial aid); build reports with Tableau, Power BI, and SQL.
- Systems Integration: Manage APIs, authentication protocols (e.g., SAML, OAuth), and middleware coordination.
- Business Process Mapping: Use tools like Visio, Miro or Lucidchart to visualize and improve workflows.
- Workflow Automation: Build logic-driven automations inside enterprise platforms.
- Project Management: Plan, track, and deliver technology initiatives in collaboration with cross-campus partners.
- Data Governance: Promote institutional standards and responsible data stewardship.
- Communication: Translate technical concepts into user-friendly explanations and documentation.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Business Administration, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- At least 3 years of experience managing enterprise applications, ERP systems, or systems integration in a complex organization.
- Demonstrated leadership of functional or technical teams.
- Strong project management, organizational, and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Proven ability to collaborate across departments and communicate with diverse audiences.
- High initiative, attention to detail, and commitment to service.
