Oakville Middle School Boys Head Basketball Coach

Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate individual to serve as the Head Basketball Coach for the Oakville Middle School Boys team. The duration of this season will be 11/1/2026-3/6/2027. This seasonal position will focus on developing young athletes in both their basketball skills and personal growth. The ideal candidate will foster a positive team environment, promote sportsmanship, and encourage the development of fundamental basketball skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement practice plans that enhance players' skills, teamwork, and understanding of the game.
• Organize and conduct tryouts to select team members, ensuring a fair and inclusive process.
• Teach basketball fundamentals, including dribbling, shooting, passing, and defense.
• Create a positive and supportive team culture that emphasizes respect, discipline, and hard work.
• Communicate effectively with players, parents, and school administration regarding team expectations, schedules, and progress.
• Plan and coordinate game schedules, including transportation and logistics for away games.
• Monitor and promote the academic performance of team members, ensuring they maintain their responsibilities as students.
• Maintain equipment and facilities, ensuring they are safe and suitable for practice and games.
• Attend all scheduled practices and games, demonstrating commitment and leadership.
• Collaborate with fellow coaches and school staff to enhance the overall athletic program.

Requirements

• Previous coaching experience, preferably at the middle school or high school level.
• Strong knowledge of basketball fundamentals and strategies.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to motivate and inspire young athletes.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• CPR and First Aid certification preferred.
• Must pass a background check and adhere to school district policies.
• Availability for practices and games during the basketball season, including evenings and weekends.
• A passion for teaching and mentoring young athletes.
