Oakville HS Boys Basketball Head Coach

Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate individual to lead the Oakville High School Boys Basketball program. The Head Coach will be responsible for developing student-athletes both on and off the court, fostering a positive team culture, and promoting sportsmanship and academic excellence. This seasonal position requires strong leadership, communication skills, and a commitment to the development of young athletes.

Responsibilities

• Plan and implement effective practice sessions and game strategies to enhance team performance.
• Develop and maintain a competitive basketball program that aligns with the school's mission and values.
• Foster a positive and inclusive team environment that encourages teamwork, respect, and personal growth.
• Monitor the academic progress of student-athletes to ensure eligibility and promote academic success.
• Communicate effectively with players, parents, and school administration regarding team policies, schedules, and expectations.
• Organize and oversee team activities, including practices, games, and tournaments.
• Collaborate with assistant coaches and support staff to provide a comprehensive coaching experience.
• Promote the basketball program through community engagement and outreach initiatives.
• Ensure compliance with all school and athletic department policies, as well as league rules and regulations.
• Evaluate player performance and provide constructive feedback for individual and team improvement.

Requirements

• Previous coaching experience prefered, preferably at the high school or collegiate level.
• Strong knowledge of basketball fundamentals, strategies, and rules.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire student-athletes.
• Ability to work collaboratively with school staff, parents, and the community.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Commitment to the academic and athletic development of student-athletes.
• First Aid/CPR certification is preferred.
• A background check and completion of any required training will be necessary prior to employment.
• Availability to work evenings and weekends during the basketball season.
