Oakville Custodial/Maintenance Substitute

Summary
The Oakville School District is seeking a reliable and dedicated individual to serve as a Custodial/Maintenance Substitute. This position is essential for maintaining a clean, safe, and functional environment for students, staff, and visitors. The ideal candidate will be adaptable, able to respond to various maintenance needs, and committed to upholding the district’s standards of cleanliness and safety.

Responsibilities

• Perform general cleaning duties, including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, and sanitizing classrooms, restrooms, hallways, and common areas.
• Assist with minor maintenance tasks such as changing light bulbs, fixing furniture, and performing basic repairs as needed.
• Ensure that all cleaning supplies and equipment are properly maintained and stored.
• Report any safety hazards, maintenance issues, or needed repairs to the appropriate personnel.
• Support the setup and breakdown of facilities for events, meetings, and activities.
• Follow safety protocols and guidelines to maintain a safe working environment.
• Work collaboratively with school staff and administration to address custodial and maintenance needs as they arise.
• Perform other related duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Previous experience in custodial or maintenance work is a plus, but not required.
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
• Strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining cleanliness and safety standards.
• Good communication skills and the ability to work well with others.
• Physical ability to perform tasks that may involve lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
• Availability to work on short notice and flexibility to cover various shifts as needed.
• A valid driver’s license may be required for certain maintenance tasks.
