Activities Assistant - HOURS OF WORK
- Tuesday and Thursday – 10:30am - 6:30pm
- Every other weekend required
- Every other holiday required
Activities Assistant - REQUIREMENTS
- Experience in long term care, activity assistant, or related field. 1 year preferred.
- Strong verbal/written communication skills
- Critical thinking skills, strong motivation, professional and creative balanced with a light/fun approach.
- Conduct activities, but not limited to crafts, table games, baking, discussion groups, music, exercise, and 1:1 visits and sensory stimulation group/visits.
- Assist and guide all residents in-group activities held in the facility as well as on community outings.
- Invite, and assist or escort residents to and from activities.
- Assist in maintaining accurate records of resident’s attendance at activities on a daily basis and any other forms deemed necessary to the general departmental operations.
- Assist in the maintenance of equipment, supplies, and upkeep of the activity office and store room.
- Take part in the total treatment plan of residents by assessing resident leisure interests, developing plan of care, involved with inter-disciplinary team, and quarterly progress notes on residents when requested by the Director of Activity.
- Assist in the planning and conducting of large activities including but not limited to socials, special theme parties, holiday parties, movies, happy hour, religious groups, bingo, and volunteer groups.
- Attend all department and facility In-service meetings.
- Demonstrate knowledge and implementation of all facility and departmental objectives, policies, and procedures as stated in the policy and procedure manual including the Federal and State policies and procedures.
- Encourage all residents to participate in the activity programs.
- Assure the care, safety, and well-being of the residents throughout activities as well as transporting residents to and from community outings.
- One on one visits with residents for socialization and sensory stimulation according to resident needs.
- Assist with bulletin boards, birthday signs, monthly calendar, and other decorating and display materials.
- Use any spare time on the unit with the residents, helping out where needed.
- Any and all other duties as assigned by the Director of Activities.
