Responsibilities
- Plan, organize, and lead a variety of recreational activities tailored to residents’ interests and abilities, including arts and crafts, games, music sessions, and outings.
- Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs), ensuring their comfort and safety during participation.
- Collaborate with care teams to incorporate therapeutic activities that support memory care, dementia care, and aging issues counseling.
- Manage activity schedules efficiently to ensure a balanced mix of social, physical, and cognitive engagements.
- Foster an inclusive environment by working with individuals with disabilities or special needs to ensure they are actively involved in all activities.
- Maintain detailed records of participation, resident preferences, and activity outcomes for ongoing program improvement.
- Communicate effectively with residents’ families and staff to coordinate personalized activity plans that enhance quality of life.
- Driver License is mandatory, you will be driving Residents to doctor appointments.
Skills
- Proven experience in event planning or recreational therapy within assisted living or nursing home settings.
- Strong understanding of Alzheimer’s care, dementia care, memory care, and senior care best practices.
- Excellent communication skills to connect with residents of diverse backgrounds and abilities.
- Ability to assist residents with ADLs such as mobility, dressing, grooming, and personal hygiene.
- Skilled in schedule management to coordinate multiple activities seamlessly throughout the day.
- Knowledge of caregiving techniques specific to long-term care environments and home & community care experience preferred.
- Compassionate approach with the ability to provide emotional support and counseling on aging issues when needed.
