Job purpose
To organize, control, and manage the shipment of all finished goods from the plant.
Duties and responsibilities
- Check order by customer name, order number, size and weight requirement.
- Ensure the correct number of carriers are ready for shipment.
- Check the surface condition of the wire.
- Make sure the total weight of product loaded onto the truck is within legal limits.
- Oversee the unloading of the material to ensure that it is placed in the proper location.
- Check forklifts daily and keep them clean. Check for proper storage at end of day.
- Clean and organize work area.
- Confirm receipt of supplies; process paperwork to purchasing as required.
- Make sure all carriers are separated by sizes.
- Ensure that there are enough carriers for all three shifts’ production orders.
- Monitor inventory of shipping supply.
- Follow safety procedures.
- Read, understand and follow all shipping work instructions/procedures.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Able to read, write and speak English.
- Basic computer skills
- Mechanically inclined
- High school diploma or equivalent is required.
- Previous experience operating forklift and overhead crane in an industrial setting.
- Ability to work overtime and weekends as needed.
Working conditions
- Regularly lifting, traveling up and down stairs, sitting, squatting and bending in various positions - traveling in and out of work areas, walking and being on your feet for a majority of the work day.
- Daily exposed to noise, dust, fumes, and odors. Physical exertion is required.
- The employee requires standing, bending and twisting for scheduled shift.
- Requires work in a non-air-conditioned area during the summer months.
- Vision protection, metatarsal steel-toed shoes, hard hat, ear plugs, and high visibility clothing is required.
Physical requirements
- Liit minimum of 50 pounds.
- Be able to use sledgehammer, crowbar to break down wood bracing.
- Be able to bend and climb.
- Able to see and hear.
- Must be able to identify and distinguish colors.
