Job Purpose
To size down wire/rod per customer specification, so the customer will be able to make precision products.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Coil Safety at O&K American; read, understand, and follow it
- Read, understand, and follow all production procedures for W/D
- Power outage instructions
- Understand all aspects of machine operation and safety
- General maintenance and troubleshoot of machines and 6S
- Pointing of rod
- Weighing coils
- Set / adjust cast for coils
- Able to select dies and print tags / labels
- Using overhead cranes to offload and load coils
- Be able to calibrate and properly operate department inspection tools: micrometers and loupe light.
- Visual inspection of coil.
- Understanding and entering data into AS400 production screen
- Identifying rod nonconformance’s
- Coil ID tag visual check requirement
- Scanning tags & entering random emboss tag number into the computer
- Placing labels and cutting samples
- Drawing Soap – changing, checking
- Inspection for surface nonconformance’s
- Nonconformance instructions
- Using correct wire carriers
- Banding coils
- Follow basic safety procedures.
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Able to read, write and speak English.
- Basic computer skills
- Able to work with machine inspection equipment.
- Overhead crane experience in an industrial setting is preferred.
- Ability to work overtime and weekends as needed.
- Math and deductive reasoning skills.
Working Conditions
- Regularly lifting, traveling up and down stairs, sitting, squatting and bending in various positions - traveling in and out of work areas, walking and being on your feet for a majority of the work day.
- Daily exposed to noise, dust, fumes, and odors. Physical exertion is required.
- The employee requires standing, bending and twisting for scheduled shift.
- Requires work in a non-air-conditioned area during the summer months.
- Vision protection, metatarsal steel-toed shoes, hard hat, ear plugs, and high visibility clothing is required.
Physical Requirements
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to see, talk, and hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands.
- Lift minimum of 50 pounds.
- Bend and climb.
- Must be able to identify and distinguish colors.
