About the Program


NYC Teaching Fellows is a rigorous, highly selective program that recruits and trains individuals from diverse backgrounds to teach in high-need subject areas such as math, science, special education, and bilingual education. Fellows receive intensive training, ongoing coaching, and support while earning their initial teaching certification and working toward a subsidized master’s degree in education.


What You’ll Do

  • Begin with an intensive 7-week summer training to build core teaching skills.
  • Teach full-time in a NYC Public Schools classroom in September 2026.
  • Earn a starting salary of $71,314 and full benefits as a full-time teacher.
  • Receive ongoing professional development and mentorship throughout your first years of teaching.

Who We’re Looking For

  • Bachelor’s degree by May 31, 2026 (no prior teaching experience required).
  • Minimum undergraduate GPA of 2.5
  • Fluent in written and spoken English
  • Permanent authorization to work in the United States
  • Never participated in a program that would lead to certification in the U.S. or Puerto Rico
  • A commitment to educational equity and student success.
  • Resilience, adaptability, and growth mindset.
