Forklift / Material Handling Equipment Technician

Position Summary

Rapidly growing company seeks a skilled and dependable Forklift / Material Handling Equipment Technician to perform preventative maintenance and light repairs across two facilities. This role is responsible for maintaining the operational readiness of a fleet of material handling equipment including turret trucks, sit-down forklifts, electric pallet jacks, manual pallet jacks, and occasional scissor lifts. Position offers opportunity to evolved into managing all equipment company wide.

The technician will work closely with Facility Managers and must demonstrate strong documentation habits using our CMMS platform (MaintainX), ensuring accurate reporting, preventative maintenance tracking, and timely work order completion. Individual will be responsible for building a routine maintenance schedule, performing said routine maintenance and upkeep, building out a team to facilitate this maintenance and make repairs the team is capable of making, coordinate 3rd party repairs for major repairs and build a reliable relationships with 3rd party vendors.

• 20 Turret Trucks (Raymond & Crown)
• 10 Sit-Down Forklifts (Raymond, Hyundai, Toyota, Nissan, Crown)
• 12 Electric Pallet Jacks
• Manual Pallet Jacks
• 10 Scissor Lifts (occasional service)
  
  

Key Responsibilities

Preventative Maintenance

• Execute scheduled PM programs for all material handling equipment
• Perform inspections, lubrication, battery maintenance, tire checks, and fluid service
• Identify wear components before failure
• Maintain compliance with OSHA and manufacturer maintenance intervals
  
  

Light Repairs

• Troubleshoot electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical issues
• Replace common wear parts (wheels, contactors, switches, hoses, sensors, etc.)
• Address minor mast, lift chain, and steering adjustments
• Coordinate major repairs with outside vendors when necessary
  
  

CMMS & Reporting (MaintainX)

• Accurately document all completed work in MaintainX
• Respond promptly to submitted work orders
• Record parts used, time spent, and corrective actions
• Identify recurring failure trends and communicate to Facility Managers
  
  

Safety & Compliance

• Maintain OSHA compliance standards
• Ensure all equipment meets operational safety requirements
• Assist in operator safety inspections and training support as needed
• Maintain clean and organized maintenance areas
  
  

Communication & Coordination

• Report directly to Facility Managers
• Provide status updates on equipment health and downtime
• Assist with vendor coordination when escalated repairs are required
  
  

Qualifications

• 3 years experience servicing forklifts or material handling equipment
• Experience with turret trucks strongly preferred
• Working knowledge of:
• Electric and battery-powered lift trucks
• Hydraulic systems
• 24V / 36V / 48V electrical systems
• Industrial battery maintenance
• Ability to read service manuals and wiring diagrams
• Familiarity with CMMS systems (MaintainX experience preferred)
• Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills
• OSHA forklift technician training preferred
• Clean Driving Record
• Current Drivers License

• Scissor Lift / Aerial Lift Certification
