Job Purpose:

Effective team member assisting the Supervisor in maintaining quality standards and efficient production on the packaging line.

Key Responsibilities:

  • All responsibilities of Junior Line Lead.
  • Ensure products are packed correctly and are made for distribution.
  • Work closely with team leaders to ensure the package products are highquality.
  • Ensure the team is trained properly, productive, and ensures quality is maintained.
  • Ensure the packaging line process runs smoothly, (forming cartons, palletizing and labeling).
  • Complete all necessary paperwork and understand the lot number process.
  • Verify compliance with quality, safety, production standards, work rules, and efficient operation of equipment.
  • Responsible to set up and change rayon, desiccant and neckband.
  • Work at different stations as production requires.
  • Inspect, weigh, and package products.
  • Monitor flow of product into processing machinery.
  • Verify compliance with quality, safety, production standards, work rules, and efficient operation of equipment.
  • Report potential production downtime, scrap production, and quality of each machine and summarize data from shift.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
  • Work closely with Quality Control for room clearance and approvals.
  • Show a desire and willingness to learn and succeed.
  • Complete all required training activities.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to the organization by maintaining regular, onsite attendance, act in a reliable manner and follow through on responsibilities.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Measures of Success:

Accountable for safely meeting the shift output and quality standards.

Leadership:

  • Supervise and train Line Operators and Junior Line Leads.
  • Lead and motivate the team.
  • Provide training and coaching to ensure operators have the skills and knowledge to perform their jobs effectively.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with team memes: Foster a collaborative and productive work environment.
  • Bring forward any operator issues to the Supervisor’s attention in a timely manner.

Specialized Knowledge:

  • Understand the lot numbering process.
  • Knowledge of running the filler/labeler/inkjet.
  • Good understanding of how the line works from beginning to end.
  • Basic knowledge of bottle/lid sizes.
  • Ability to call out all errors at any time during the process.
  • Ability to move quickly and efficiently.

Education/Experience:

  • Read, write and speak English.
  • At least 3 months experience as a Junior Line Lead in packaging dietary supplements or in a relevant field.
  • Highschool diploma or equivalent.
  • Basic math skills and keen observation ability.

Technical/Functional:

  • Basic knowledge of all parts of the line.
  • Ability to determine when to turn on/off the machines on the line to work around the bulk.
  • Ability to work as part of a team or as an individual and adapt to changes in work duties.
  • Able to follow instructions and timelines.

Safety:

  • Promote a safe work environment: ensure all safety protocols are followed, identify, and address potential safety hazards and investigate and report any accidents or near misses immediately to the Supervisor or EH&S Manager.
  • Follow OSHA Manufacturing Safety Awareness and precautions.
  • Comprehends and adheres to all pertinent Health and Safety Regulations, Policies and Procedures.
  • Ensure all GMP guidelines are adhered to, wear PPE, follow biohazard safety standards.

Additional Information:

  • Lifting, pushing, and pulling products.
  • Ability to handle 2025 lbs. on a frequent basis from floor to chest high.
  • Standing for extended periods of time.
  • Work environment may be exposed to powders, chemicals, and allergens (peanuts, tree nuts, milk, dairy, eggs, wheat, gluten, soy, fish and shellfish.)

The following Regulations must be adhered to:

  • 21 CFR 111 cGMP in Manufacturing, Packaging, or Holding Operations for Dietary Supplements
  • FSSC 22000 Food Safety Management System
  • 7 CFR 205 National Organic Program (NOP)
